If something isn't working most coaches would make changes or adjustments to try to improve the situation. But stubborn Maurice seemingly refuses to address his slumping power play by playing Niku. Also when teams attack the Jets on the power play instead of playing a tight box 4 they disrupt Winnipeg's passing and rush the team into turnovers. Don't expect Maurice to do anything to change it but wait for Buff to return.

I think it’s time to talk about how horrific Scheifele and Wheeler are playing these days. Coasting, out of position, and making bad decisions. Laine went from dying slowly on line 2 to carrying line 1 alone

It’s also time to talk about the deployment of Kulikov-Myers in any defensive zone or late game situation ever. Jesus Christ on a bike.

Yet it was Trouba who was out for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th goal scored by San Jose

Jets have been lucky that
A) the central has been garbage for most of the year and
B) Brossoit put up a .940 save percentage in his first 10 games
those 2 things are pretty much the reason the Jets aren't battling for a wild card right now.

Deflect, deflect, deflect.
Trouba has a history of defensive excellence, and while he’s been a bit wierd this season, positive regression exists.
Myers and Kulikov have a history of defensive... misadventures, and this has never changed or wavered. I give Kulikov a slight pass because he was okay before his spine decided to not.

Our best players have not been our best players in the last few games.

Fortunately Nashville and St Louis both lost tonight.

How am I deflecting? You are trying to blame Kulikov and Myers for one goal, and give a free pass to the 3 that Trouba was on for.

FYI...that last goal was pretty much Ehlers fault for holding up everyone at the blueline and then making an errant pass. You never never make a cross-ice pass like that almost in any situation. Just drive it deep along the boards or at the goalie. Kulikov could be somewhat blamed on the ensuing goal by not going down and blocking the pass or at least making it a very difficult one.

As tough a loss as I've seen to a very good tight checking SJ team. There is a lot of parity at the top of the NHL with the exception of Tampa who is at another level. Anyone of SJ, Calgary, St . Louis , Winnipeg, and maybe even Dallas could win a series on hot goaltending or even a few lucky bounces or a hot PP. I don't think Nashville is as good this year and will be a first-round victim.

Well since everyone b!tched about everything else about the game but the last play, oh my my. Why not just drag it to the boards and wait for the clock to tick down.

But, this team is going have difficulty moving ahead unless they can score 6 goals a game if Helle continues to play like that. Very below average goaltending.

Even though Laine has made some nice passes to Wheeler and given more effort, It's likely not coincidental that the top due has not played nearly as well since Laine joined them.

Jetsnation - I was thinking the same thing.

Sadly, the 2018-19 season seems to be all about fixing Laine.

You’re using a one game sample. I’m using entire careers.

It’s not stealing. It’s repeating in the hopes of drawing more attention to it.

They’ve been lacklustre with everyone but Ehlers. Scheifele was doing most of it himself, but now he’s gone exhausted or lazy too

recently, a number of the Jets goals have been scored by playing simple hockey, crashing the net, putting the puck on net and ready for rebounds, deflections and gritty playoff style hockey. Perreault's, Copps and even Lemieux's goals come to mind.

What impressed me about the Sharks is that it seemed like the entire roster is willing to do the dirty work. that is a hell of a hockey team in SJ.

They were not playing well 5v5 before Laine arrived. You can actually look back as far as Christmas and the poor jets record compared the 55&26 5v5 stats are both equally poor

We’re also running around .500 since then. This team needs a new bench staff. Every coach in the organization needs to go, Moose goalie man excluded

I can agree with Rexy on that assessment. Maurice is now the second longest serving coach, only Cooper has him beat, and what does the Jets have to show for it, but one second round game 7 victory.

You bring back essentially the whole team from last year and yet the defense and goaltending has fallen apart, and we've not seen any improvement in the offense supplied by any of the young wingers even though scoring has jumped this year in the nhl.
